Event Details: Join us for a ceremonial tree planting and presentation on international programs that contribute directly to UN Sustainable Development Goals. The ceremonial planting of a peace tree with the local city mayor will take place in a public park at 4:00 pm (free), and the presentation about international programs will take place at the Yoga in Daily Life US national center at 6:00 pm (by donation); both are in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. The day’s events will be led by Vishwaguru Swami Maheshwarananda, a renowned yoga master and founder of the international NGOs Yoga in Daily Life and Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council. The US and Australian branches of Yoga in Daily Life and the World Peace Council have consultative status with the UN’s ECOSOC.

Event Details: The Young Researchers’ South Asian Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) invites abstracts from doctoral, post-doctoral and young researchers working in the areas of SDG 12- “Ensuring Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) Patterns” and key SCP targets across 12 other SDGs in South Asia.

The Symposium is being organized by TERI University and the SDSN South Asia with support from the UNEP and the EU through the SWITCH-Asia Programme ( The symposium, to be held from 6 to 8 October 2016, will bring together young researchers from South Asia to present their research in the areas related to ‘SDG 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production’ and key SCP targets across 12 other SDGs.

A limited number of sponsorships are available for selected paper presenters. The sponsorship will support travel, accommodation, and registration fee in order to attend the symposium.
